I wanted to let my loyal readers and fellow bloggers know we're moving, and I'm packing our household myself (while homeschooling my six-year oldand chasing a very rambunctious two-year old!) so it's been quite a trial just finding time to sit! We lose internet completely this Friday, and plan to be moved in/unpacked BY December 24th. After the New Year I'll be back, in a new city and state, with lots of new features for you! I want to write more articles on tips & tricks, walkthroughs, and money-saver ideas, so check back after your holidays have quieted :) Thanks to those who have supported me thus far, and I hope to never disappoint! Super Cheap Turkeys at Safeway

I haven't seen anything in the flyers about this yet, but we spotted a great deal at our local Safeway. Turkeys under 16lbs are $6.77 and over 16lbs are $8.77 with a $20 purchase, pre-coupons. We scooped up some more deals on Progresso before they go away tomorrow, and some water jugs and since my total was over $20 before card savings and coupons I qualified. All-in-all we spent a total of $7 AC!

Another Way to Get Coupons

One of my favorite ways to get coupons are by contacting companies through emails, raving about my most-liked products or offering a constructive criticism. I haven't done this in a while, but I do remember which companies thanked me greatly and I'm about to send a few emails to again! Feel free to leave a comment with who you've contacted and if they sent anything in return. To increase your chances of the company mailing you awesome coupons, you have to fill in your address! Not everyone you contact will send you more than a courtesy email, so keep track of those who do if you want. Email every three months, as 90% of the companies reset their contacts after that.

Ben & Jerry's - Sent an email about an unsatisfactory experience and they sent three coupons for a free pint.
Kashi - Raved about all their products and they sent four coupons for a free item and five coupons for $2 off any item.
Muir Glen - Raved about their tomato soup especially, didn't receive coupons.

Safeway/Kohl's Deal

I'm sure my Safeway shopping readers have seen the ad for Kohl's cash when you spend $50 increments by now. I just learned from experience that, unfortunately, you have to spend $50 in a single transaction after coupons! We spent $101 before coupons, $38 after, and didn't qualify... but it's okay, since our nearest Kohl's is over an hour away! Anywho, the breakdown of this deal is: Spend $50, get $10 Kohl's Rewards; spend $100, get $20; and so on. This is good from November 4-8, and the Kohl's Rewards are good in-store only November 9-21 (just missing Black Friday, they're smart ones!).

A few weeks ago I took the weekend off, we went up to Utah for the weekend...my weekend break turned into a week, then two! Now, I'm preparing for our upcoming move. I promise to come back with deals and walkthroughs, hopefully soon, but I wanted to apologize to my (couple) readers in the mean time! Walgreens is offering a $5 off $25 purchase coupon HERE, valid this Tuesday and Wednesday only. The bad thing about these coupons are the $25 has to be after all coupons, but good if you have lots of items to purchase! This week, for example, there are LOTS of great deals, so standby for my scenario. Another bad thing is our Walgreens tends to run out of stock by Tuesday, and don't restock the RR deals often after that.

As I suspected, the new Vaseline Sheer Infusion will be FREE at drugstores starting this Sunday, 9/27! At CVS it will be $7.99 with $7.99 Extra Care Bucks (ECB) rewards, and at Walgreen's it will be $6.99 with a $6.99 Register Reward (RR). Print out the coupon I mentioned HERE to use at your nearest drug store. You will need to register for an Extra Care card at CVS stores or online HERE (takes up to two weeks to receive by mail) to receive your ECBs. I've never actually shopped a CVS because, up until yesterday, our nearest one was over an hour away and not worth the drive! There is a limit on ECBs you can earn (usually one per household), whereas at a Walgreen's, the limit is however many is stocked on the shelf that you wish to buy...don't be greedy, though!

I received those on a previous transaction, and used them on this one :) Plus, I received two more catalinas for free Capri Sun, and another for $2 off 5 cereals. Using Your Coupons

Now that you know where to find coupons, I want to give you some tips on maximizing your savings using them! One of the easiest things to do is check out the circular ads from your local grocery store, and try to match up coupons to the sale items. I shop at Safeway and Raley's, and I must say, if you match up sales with coupons you can get a LOT of items much cheaper than you'd expect. Some stores offer their own store coupons (found on the store's website or in their ad), which you can use in conjuction with manufacturer coupons (those you print and clip). Find out your store's coupon policy, which is posted on their site or, if not, can be obtained by contacting the company, to see if you can use these two types of coupons together. For example, we'll say, Cocoa Puffs are on sale at Raley's. This store allows the use of store and manufacturer coupons on the same item, one each per item purchased. Using your manufacturer coupon AND store coupon on those Cocoa Puffs during a sale allows you to purchase that cereal for probably 2/3 less than you normally would have spent on them, or even get them for free!

You can also join online couponing forums to trade experiences with other couponers, or get tips on what the best coupon/sale matchups would be. One of the best, and highly reputed, is Hot Coupon World HERE. That is the one I am most likely to refer back to when I need a little help planning my weekly shopping trips. Other blogs are great tools as well, as they can help with certain grocery store matchups that may not be in my area.

Next, the best way to learn using coupons, is practice, practice, practice! You won't be a super couponer right away, but the only way to get there is to get out there and do it. Clip some coupons from this Sunday's paper, match up your store's ad with coupons you have or print some out, and use 'em! Practice makes progress. Soon enough, you will be just like those ladies featured on TV, but the only way to get to the top is to keep climbing :)

Other Places to Get Coupons

There are a number of places you can purchase or find paper coupons. Some are more work than others, but are worth it!

Sunday Newspapers

Every weekend, we get coupons in our Sunday paper (unless it's a holiday weekend). Taylor Town has a preview of what and when is being released for 2009 HERE. There are three insert providers, P&G, Redplum (Valassis), and Smart Source. P&G is released only on the first weekend of the month, but occassionally will put one out mid-month. Sometimes Redplum (RP) and Smart Source (SS) put out an extra one or two inserts in our Sunday paper, how nice! Last weekend, there were two of each, some areas received three SS and two RP.

You can also check beforehand to see what coupons are being released (remember, they can change per area) HERE, in case you want to pick up extra papers. Buying two or three extra papers is sometimes beneficial, but only if there are a number of coupons you need. Otherwise, you can purchase coupons...

Online Coupon Clipping Sites

There are a few reliable sites you can purchase clipped coupons, or the whole insert, from if you don't want to buy more newspapers, or if you need more of just a certain coupon. My favorite is Coupons & Things by Dede HERE. There is also The Coupon Clippers HERE and The Coupon Masters HERE. These sites sell quantities of the coupons you want, say, if you wanted 10 more of a $1 off coupon but didn't want the other coupons that came in 10 more newspapers!

Magazines

You've seen them while flipping through your favorite magazine, no doubt! The majority of magazines on the newstand have coupons inside, but why flip through them looking for coupons when you can look HERE to see if that magazine is worth buying.

There is one magazine, called All You, that you can find in Walmart that is full of coupons! Occassionally, you can find subscriptions to this magazine for very cheap online, and when that happens I will post them. Lately, except for this month, they've included a coupon or two for free items! Totally worth the couple bucks to pick it up.

Home Mailers

These are bonuses, especially if your mailbox is full of bills! If you sign up to receive communications from a company, sometimes they send out coupons via snail mail. One thing I highly recommend is emailing your favorite brands and giving them a compliment, and leaving your address. 95% of the time, that company will thank you for being a loyal customer and send you coupons. I know for a fact Kashi is very generous with their coupons if you email them and say how much you love this or that product...they sent me four coupons for a free Kashi product, plus five coupons for $2 off any Kashi cereal! So, if you have some spare time, send your favorite brands a compliment and see what happens.

Blinkies/Peelies/Tearpads

Walk around most grocery stores and you'll see those red boxes hanging off the shelf with coupons sticking out...those are "blinkies", named for the red blinking light on the box. You can also find "peelies" on an actual product itself. Peelies are coupons that are taped onto something, that you have to peel off! And "tearpads" are booklets of coupons that are usually attached to the shelf around the product. Simple enough, and very easy-to-remember nicknames :)

Catalinas

These coupons print out at the register, and are pretty much always store-specific. They are great surprises sometimes, too! They can be for high values, and our Walgreens has no problem with you using a catalina, manufacturer, and store coupon on one item...as long as you have enough items to equal the number of coupons (three coupons used for three items, four for four, etc.).

In Product Packaging

Sometimes we luck out and find coupons inside a products package. Currently, there are $5 worth of coupons in some Kellogg cereals, but the ones we don't expect are like mini-presents! I've found Kotex coupons inside Huggies boxes, and coupons for treats inside cat food. A quick glance can turn up some unexpected pieces of paper, but you'll quickly come to find which types of packaging turn up the most coupons.

eCoupons are a relatively new idea, and very helpful! You load these coupons onto your store card and watch the savings literally fall off at checkout. Currently, I use four sites that offer eCoupons, and haven't once had a problem using them. I only have a Safeway card (all we have in our quaint town), and this store is absolutely wonderful with coupons, period! Register your card and choose the coupons you'd like added for instant savings. I apply all coupons to my card, because you never know when you're going to run across a clearance item or unexpected deal!

Cellfire
Register your cell phone number and store card here. You will not receive telemarketer calls, as they don't sell your info! If your phone is capable, you can also download the mobile app so as to use coupons at stores that don't require store cards. I love that these are updated every two weeks!

P&G eSAVER
Household name Procter & Gamble offers their brand coupons to you. Register your store cards, and load them up! These are updated monthly, with the September coupons expiring October 31.

Shortcuts
Register all your cards on this site, brought to you by AOL ;) These coupons are a jackpot if you have a Kroger card, especially.

Upromise
These eCoupons deposit your savings into your Upromise account, which is so much more productive when $1 from toilet paper is deposited instead of 2% only from your shopping trip. I've only used this for the month of September, but they have a better number of baby-related coupons! Remember to scroll down after you select your coupons and activate them, as I lost 19 of the coupons I selected by not doing this.

There are three websites that gather coupons for printing, yet there are many more sites that offer printables! I will try my best to gather those extras and place them in my blog for you. These coupons reset every month on the first, and sometimes great high value coupons are added at random:

Play around with the ZIP codes to find great deals as well! You can sometimes find higher values in certain bigger cities around the country.

Redplum.com
Offers not only coupons, but store specials and savings for restaurants in your area as well!

Smartsource.com
Again, play around with ZIP codes on this site to find better deals. Recently, there was a very good coupon available in 77477 that wasn't available in our area!

If you've signed up with Mypoints.com, you can print Coupons.com and Smartsource.com coupons from there and earn points by redeeming them anywhere internet printables (IPs) are accepted!

Some other sites that offer great coupons are from the manufacturers themselves. These sites you will most likely have to register for, but registration is free and simple! Check them out now to see what you could be saving:

I've had a few friends (and some random cashiers!) ask me for help with the couponing and bargain shopping I've been a huge fan of. So, I'm going to try my hand at the bargain blogging! I guess, first, I should post some of the free coupon and product sites I'm a user of :) I've also put an asterisk next to the sites you can usually print online coupons from:

Bzz Agent
This is a great site that offers you the chance to test and keep new products, and all you have to do is promise to spread the word about your experience, submit up to three reports, and fill out a survey or two. Not bad when you consider they are giving you full-size samples of the item you are to test, and at least 10 coupons to share! (I'm currently involved with the new Burt's Bees Acne products).

Kraft First Taste
This is a site dedicated to spreading the word on Kraft's newest foods. You're given the opportunity to try one product or the other (last decision was Maxwell House coffee or Velveeta Shells and Cheese cups), and they'll send you a coupon for a free item you chose plus a coupon to share with a friend you've told the product about.

Mypoints *
Sign up here and earn points for printing coupons and shopping online! I've been a member for almost two years, and have redeemed points earned by clicking through emails and printing coupons for a $50 gift card to Walmart and a few other small ones for Christmas shopping.

Pssst... General Mills *
Similar to Kraft First Taste, but a little slower in my own experience.

She Speaks
This site gives members the opportunity to test out products via a process similar to Bzz Agent, but with a bit less Bzz'ing! I've had the chance to get a lot of free magazine subscriptions through She Speaks, and receive free Oral B toothbrushes for my children. Women can also post reviews about products they can't live without...and those they can!

Upromise
If you have kids, you can shop online through Upromise and get anywhere from 1%-10% or more back from your purchases for college, plus the chance to invest into a 529 savings plan! Register credit/debit and store cards to maximize your earnings automatically when you shop at participating stores or buy participating brands. You can also load e-coupons onto some store cards for instant savings at checkout.

Vocalpoint *
This site is wonderful! Join and you'll receive coupons in the mail for products, most of the time automatically. Plus, you'll get the chance to join in on new product testings occassionally and you're only obligated to submit a review or complete a survey. There are helpful disussions and tips on the product you've received coupons for, or just anything that's made a member's day-to-day easier.

These sites are my most favorite, and never dissapoint!
